My ServiceNow Story: Thomas Henckel, Service Delivery Manager
The team at GlideFast Consulting is full of passionate, skilled, and enthusiastic developers and architects. If there is one thing that we all have in common, it is our love for the ServiceNow platform and community. “My ServiceNow Story” is a blog series that will give you an inside look of the work and lives of the consultants at GlideFast Consulting and how they started and built their careers in the industry. Our consultants will share their stories with you and will lead you down the path that brought them to where they are today.
This ServiceNow Story features Thomas Henckel, Service Delivery Manager, based out of Des Moines, Iowa.

How were you first introduced to ServiceNow? What was your first job using the platform?
I was first introduced to ServiceNow when I was a Systems Engineer back in 2013. I was tasked to convert our Excel spreadsheet of servers into ServiceNow. At that point I didn't realize how big ServiceNow was or would become.
What other jobs have you had working with ServiceNow?
Fast forward to 2016, I was working for a different company and became the team lead developing ServiceNow for the company. At that point, I was sent to my first Knowledge conference in 2017 and realized that ServiceNow was huge and was only going to become bigger. I also met both Michael Lombardo and Lloyd Godson at Knowledge ‘17 and immediately got along with them.
After attending Knowledge ‘17, I knew there was a lot more potential for me so I focused on obtaining the only three mainline certifications ServiceNow had at that time to help further my career.
I had my System Administrator and ITSM certification and became a partner for a different company working with a large software company. At that point, I didn't know for sure if GlideFast was hiring or not, so I waited and gained more experience. After that point, I switched to GlideFast and the rest is history.
It took me a while to figure out what worked best for me, but through my pursuits, I feel I've found a space that suits me well. Also, I always keep learning and improving because ServiceNow is always doing something innovative.
What are your primary ServiceNow skills?
I have seven mainline certifications (Systems Administrator, Application Developer, ITSM, HR, CSM, PPM, and FSM), along with all micro-certifications.
What are your plans for the future in your career and in the ServiceNow industry?
I plan on continuing to learn as much about the platform as possible. I’d like to try to expand more into the Domain Separation aspect.
