My ServiceNow Story: Aaron Johnson, CTO

If there is one thing that we all have in common, it is our love for the ServiceNow platform and community. “My ServiceNow Story” is a blog series that will give you an inside look of the work and lives of the consultants at GlideFast Consulting and how they started and built their careers in the industry. Our consultants will share their stories with you and will lead you down the path that brought them to where they are today.

This ServiceNow Story features Aaron Johnson, GlideFast’s Chief Technology Officer based out of Westford, MA.


How were you first introduced to ServiceNow? What was your first job using the platform?

I was first introduced to ServiceNow while working at Partners HealthCare, which is now Mass General Brigham. At the time, I was the Principal Developer/Technical Owner of the existing ITSM platform, HP Service Manager. When I first learned of ServiceNow (I hadn't seen it yet), I wanted nothing to do with it because I had built up the Service Manager platform from nothing over the past dozen years, and it was my baby. When I finally did see the ServiceNow platform, I was blown away by its capabilities and instantly fell in love with it. I spent the next several years at Partners HealthCare as the Lead Developer and Technical Owner of ServiceNow.

What are your primary ServiceNow skills?

My core skills were built up around ITSM, where I have my ITIL v3 Expert certification. I really try to focus on the platform as a whole, utilizing functionality that is core in different applications. My biggest interest is building out custom applications. Recently, I’ve taken an interest in project portfolio management (PPM).

What are your plans for the future in your career and in the ServiceNow industry?

Right now, my main desire is to continue to build out our internal applications and processes to help us be as successful as possible. I enjoy being able to utilize the platform to solve business challenges of all shapes and sizes.
