Importing Hardware Assets Using an Excel Spreadsheet in ServiceNow

He explains that this process is useful for organizations implementing Hardware Asset Management or for those who have asset data from another system that they want to load into ServiceNow.
Laurence starts by populating an Excel spreadsheet with the details of 10 Apple MacBook Pro laptops that will be imported. He mentions that when importing values into reference fields, the column values in the spreadsheet must match the existing values in the system.
To begin the import process, Laurence navigates to the Load Data module in ServiceNow. He selects the "Create Table" option to create an import set table. He provides a label for the import and chooses the file containing the spreadsheet. He sets the sheet number and header row as one since the header is located on row one in the spreadsheet.
After submitting the form, the import process begins, and Laurence creates a transform map to map the columns from the spreadsheet to the fields in the hardware asset table. He matches the fields such as model, category, asset tag, serial number, location, assigned to, state, and cost.
Once the mapping is complete, Laurence saves it and initiates the transformation process. The system processes the transform, and upon success, Laurence verifies that the imported hardware assets are available in the hardware asset module.
Laurence concludes by highlighting the simplicity and efficiency of importing hardware assets into ServiceNow using an Excel spreadsheet. This process can be completed in a matter of minutes and allows organizations to efficiently manage and track their hardware assets within the platform.
